What is Noida Film City?

Noida Film City is a sprawling media complex in Sector 16A, spread across 100+ acres. It was established in the 1990s by the Noida Authority to create a centralised hub for India's media industry. Today, it houses:

• Major broadcast networks: ZEE TV, NDTV, News18, TV Today (Aaj Tak, India Today), ABP News, Republic TV
• Production studios: Multiple soundstages used for daily soaps, reality shows, and film shoots
• Post-production facilities: Editing suites, dubbing studios, VFX houses, and animation studios
• Training institutes: AAFT (Asian Academy of Film & Television) and other media training centres

If you've watched Indian television in the last two decades, you've almost certainly seen content produced in Noida Film City.

Can You Visit Film City?

Unlike Mumbai's Film City, which offers regular public tours, Noida Film City doesn't have a formal public touring programme. However, there are ways to experience it:

• Media industry events: Film festivals, media conclaves, and industry workshops are periodically hosted on campus
• AAFT campus visits: The Asian Academy of Film & Television welcomes prospective students and visitors for guided tours of their facilities
• Live audience shows: Some TV productions invite live audiences for comedy shows, singing competitions, and game shows. Check the shows' social media for audience registration
• Drive-through: The Film City campus is accessible by road, and you can drive through to see the exterior of studios and broadcast buildings

A VR (virtual reality) gaming centre offering immersive experiences from horror rooms to space exploration. Sessions start at ₹500 for 30 minutes. Popular with teens and young adults.

The Creative Ecosystem

Noida's entertainment industry extends beyond Film City:

• Gaming studios: Several mobile game development companies are based in Noida, part of India's growing gaming industry
• YouTube and digital creators: Many of India's top YouTubers and digital content creators are based in Noida, drawn by the professional studio infrastructure and relatively affordable rents
• Advertising agencies: Major ad agencies have production teams in Noida for producing TV commercials
• Publishing: Several publishing houses and printing presses call Noida home
